vids.cc Link Copier privacy policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
Purpose
The vids.cc Link Copier browser extension converts supported social-media URLs into vids.cc URLs for sharing.
Data the extension handles
- The current page URL or a URL selected through the extension’s context menu, when you ask the extension to convert it.
- Clipboard text, only if you explicitly enable automatic clipboard replacement and grant clipboard access.
- Your extension settings, including enabled providers, toolbar behavior, floating-button preferences, and automatic-replacement preference.
How data is used
Page URLs and clipboard text are processed locally in your browser solely to detect supported providers and create the corresponding vids.cc URL. They are not uploaded, sold, or used for advertising or analytics.
The extension does not access your browser's saved history or read webpage content. It handles only the supported URL needed for the copy action.
Preferences are stored using the browser’s extension storage so they can be remembered. The extension may store local timestamps and generic error messages for feature status, but it does not store copied URLs or clipboard contents.
Sharing and retention
The extension does not share page URLs or clipboard contents with vids.cc or any third party. Transient URL and clipboard values are discarded after processing. Settings remain in browser-managed storage until you change them or uninstall the extension.
Permissions
- Clipboard write access copies converted links.
- Optional clipboard read access supports automatic replacement when enabled and supported by the browser.
- Optional access to selected provider sites displays the floating copy button.
- Storage access remembers your choices.
- Context-menu, active-tab, scripting, and offscreen access provide the extension’s user-requested copy features.
Limited use
Use of information received from browser APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
